Cast Pewter Chess Set

Every so often I meet up with my good friend and fellow CCI member, Peter Armit

to view our recent chess buys and to discuss in detail what is going on and what is available to purchase. This little gem of a set is modern, well made, and will be a future collectable. Although small, this a quality item- with no hyped up sales talk necessary, no mention of created maker’s pattern, or any additional nonsense to boost interest. The set is so nice that when seen in the flesh it simply ‘sells itself’. I was simply smitten with it when Peter showed me his one, so I purchased one ASAP.

The maker Keepsake Coins has a variety of offerings in Etsy well worth having a good look at with reasonable looking prices.

As a collector I like to keep the door open for any interesting offerings – of course price matters too. This lovely set is a breath of fresh air compared to the endless supply of reproductions with very dubious looking historical descriptions. Each opinion can be to his/her own viewpoint as it is always the buyer’s pleasure. The king height is just over 5cms, and the felting will protect the playing surface of any chessboard.

This quality set may not be suitable for children to handle as the sharp points on the king and queen heads could cause minor injury or distress if grabbed greedily during play. I also have concerns about heavily weighted sets being used by kids, and if thrown at each other due to sore losers’ tantrums, a serious injury could occur!
Viewers:- please note this endorsement of the Medieval cast pewter chess set is done entirely on merit hence my delight in owning it, but I am not and never will be a sales type of agent for any makers of chess sets. A mention of any set will be earned simply if the quality and price pleases me. This site Is not a business and was never created as a type of money-making machine, but solely to share my passion for the collecting of chessmen.
