Late 19th Century English Pattern Chess Set

This late 19th Century boxwood and ebony English pattern chess set in a high quality velvet lined sarcophagus style box was purchased at auction in the distant past, the king height is 11.5 cms. The offered provenance was the famous English potter, Bernard Leach’s, sister,  Hilda Leach. Described as a ‘Lund’ (!) but I have been advised by fellow CCI members to doubt this. The high volume of sets being offered as ‘Calvert pattern’ is a nonsense-buyers beware! Who made this nice looking set? I simply do not know, and making up a maker is not something I like doing. Such practices will only confuse new collectors and hinder already published research findings. The set is clearly a quality one that I am delighted to own and  treasure with no disappointment whatsoever re its dubious description.
