Weighted English Pattern Chess Set

This English pattern set in ebony and boxwood is partially weighted?!  Unusual  to see the pawns without weights, yet getting such quality sets is none too easy. Thus when I was given the opportunity to
purchase this delightful set, I grabbed it greedily with no concern whatsoever for the unweighted anomaly, since the sheer scarcity of such a set would be a fine addition to my collection. The box shown in the images is not original to the set but was once was a tea caddy, and an English pattern knight motif has been glued by me onto the lid – not an original piece of course, but a moulded copy of a spare piece. The King height is some 4 inches tall. My belief is that the set was weighted at a later date but not by the unknown maker. Over the years I have purchased a number of sets from some preferred sellers, simply because doing business with these people is always a pleasure.
